garage operations

February - August 2018 • Winter Park, FL

What I liked

Flexible hours with school, and good pay for start job. Very good employer, and comfortable environment.

What I wish was different

Everything was organized well. If I had to change anything it would be to have some visuals of the garage just in case something were to happen. For example: although campus safety has visuals, if a car alarm goes off, the individual in the booth is not aware on how the alarm went off.

Advice

Having this experience is a good way to get a person in the mindset of having a job. I would highly recommend if you are a full-time student.

Primary Researcher

June - July 2018 • Winter Park, FL

What I liked

I enjoyed learning in-depth how to conduct research. Learning in the class is one thing, but actually being a researcher on a real project and experiencing it yourself is quite different. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I was also very grateful to be the primary researcher on a project as only an undergraduate student. I grew so much as a student by being given the opportunity to take point, make mistakes, and become somewhat of an "expert" in my tiny area of research.

What I wish was different

I wish I had had more than 6 weeks to do the research - it was a lot of work!

Advice

Ask your professors about their research, and if they're looking for any help. And if you're willing to do the work, don't be afraid to ask to be the primary researcher on a project.

Site Leader

May - June 2018 • Madrid, Madrid

What I liked

I loved everything about this job. I enjoyed the fact that I could be a more approachable leadership figure, as many students would prefer to talk to a peer about certain issues. Also, it was fun and rewarding interacting with the students and fostering relationships among them during all of our lunches and cultural activities. Lastly, I liked the housing arrangements because I had my own room with a bathroom and air conditioning, and home-cooked dinners were provided every night.
